Hi Everyone

I just wanted to say as I am a new member here. I don't know exactly how it works but will try to keep up with you all. I have both illnesses and thought it would be a good fit. Have a great day all.

Hello everybody:

It's good maryinmaryland has this website. I not only suffer from Schizoaffective but substance abuse also. The chronic voices that taunt me 24/7 and then trying to function in society on my own is not very easy but i'm keeping the faith. I really don't reach out to much any more but I'm giving it a try.

I'm in a halfway house for substance abusers and do volunteer work for now to keep me busy. I'm looking for a job and also was accepted at DeVry for Information Technology and it's all paid for except peanuts.

I don't know about you but it's hard to find a Dual diagnosis treatment of any kind in IL or maybe I just am not looking hard enough. Anybody have a substance abuse problem also I'd love to hear from you on this site

Later,

Chapsid

Please bear with me, am very new at this type of thing. I really live a very isolated life3 for at least 5 years. My husband says I'm always too nice to people.  i WAS VERY NICE TO EVERYONE BUT ME FOR LIKE FOR EVER... Then something sort of snapped. Apparently I swallowed 90 Geodon, 30 Ambien CR, about 50 Depakote ER, etc. a little over 5 years ago. Up ontil that time I was ADON at a Facility working on call 24 hours a day nearly 7 days a week, 40 Hours salary... Now I am lucky to remeber what I was going to say or do 5 minutes ago. I've raised a productive family, seem to be pretty well adjusted. My Dr. is telling me I need to get out of the house more. Any suggestions on how to feel healthy enough? Anybody else swallow a bunch of stuff like that and honestly not recall taking more than one pill? Ever woke up with an intubation tube jammed down your throat and had no idea why? Ever tried for hours to remember your husbands number, that you used to know better than anyone elses? Especially after being with this same guy for over 28 years? I cut myself off from life totally after the diagnosis came. Have not felt the need to cut for about a year now. Never ad that problem until around the suicidal periods. I don't feel like I've had a manic episode for about 4 years, but can't be sure. tHE MAIN PROBLEM IS i FELL of the side of the earth by choice and don't know how or where3 to start to get a life back. And not one hundred percent sure I'm really ready yet anyway. Main joys in life are my adult children, grandchildren, and the dogs.I am not sure what to expect from this site... nothing I guess... Just hoping there might be somebody out there whom can relate and find it in their heart to at least read this and answer if you feel there is anything we may have in common, and if this person may wish to spend any time chatting. Not sure what else to say... Want a life history? Please tell me what interests you, and reach out if you would like to.Sometimes there is a difficultywith this internet connection... if There is no immediate response please don't take it personal. I expect nothing, so don't feel like "you" can let me down.

Hi there I'm new here thought I'd introduce myself my Official diangnosis is depression with psychotic features but my old Dr called it Schizoaffective.  I am 34 married with 2 chilldren 4 & 11.  My 11 year old has ADD and mild Asperger syndrome(a high functioning autism).  I am on social security disability and do not work.  I take Prozac and Abilify the Abilify was just added a couple weeks ago and im loving it although i dont sleep as well I can get some things done.  I am scatter brained forgetful at times paranoid shy reserved weird and once bore the nickname "PsychoBitch" although i never did understand what I did to earn it mostly im quiet and keep to myself i don't like going out much so unless i need to run kids to school or do the dreaded grocery store trip im at home.  I also have diabetis type 2 the antipsychotic meds help me quite a bit but they make me gain weight I cant affford to have with the diabetis any ideas on how to balance the two?  Anyway just wanted to say hello and I'll be around.
